 Almost fell off the wagon on Day 6, so here is a 2-fer. These are beauty recipes I use weekly. The texturizer spray has a stronger hold, which is suitable for creating waves. The flax setting lotion has a lighter hold, which makes it great for creating soft curls in a wet set.

Texturizing Spray

• 1 cup freshly boiled water
• 1 Tbsp sea salt
• 2 Tbsp white sugar
• 2 Tbsp rubbing alcohol, 91%
• 2 Tbsp aloe vera gel

Combine the very hot water, sugar, and salt in a 16oz Mason jar. Stir until fully dissolved. Let set until cooled to room temperature. Add alcohol and aloe gel. Lid the jar and shake very well until it's all combined. Transfer some to a spray bottle. Feel free to add essential oils or even a couple squirts of perfume. The spray should last a few weeks on the shelf. Because the solution is super saturated, salt and sugar may settle to the bottom after a couple of weeks. Just pour off the clear solution and discard the rest at the bottom. I use this spray to create or enhance natural waves.

Flax Setting Lotion

• 8 oz water
• 1 Tbsp whole flax seed

Add water and flax seed to a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil and boil for 5-7 minutes. The liquid should turn very light Amber and become more syrupy. Turn off heat and immediately strain with a fine mesh strainer, into a heat safe container (I use a little Anchor ramakin. Use a spoon to coax any excess gel through the mesh, but be careful not to force cooked seeds through. Let cool before use. This only keeps for a few days on the counter, and only a few days more in the fridge. This receipe only yeilds a few ounces which should be enough for a couple of uses. Use as you would a hair gel, although keep in mind the hold is light and it has a higher water content (use on dry hair). I use this when I am putting foam  curlers in my hair overnight.
